Home Decor: Hand Woven, Hand Knit, & Block Island-Made
North Light Fibers is proud to present you a range of beautiful home decor - hand made, hand woven, and hand knit items from exotic fibers such as baby alpaca, camel, silk, soy silk, buffalo and merino wool. From our custom blended yarns, we create fantastic throws from alpaca and merino, rugs from alpaca and llama, and baby blankets or placemats and runners from the softest and strongest cottons.
Our home decor items are hand woven here on Block Island or by weavers Kathy Ward in Newport or Peggy Hart in Massachusetts, who restores antique looms, and The Hartford Artisan Weaving Center whose weavers are blind, visually impaired, or senior citizens. We enjoy working with many different organizations that are philosophically aligned with our approach of strengthening the local economy and creating year-round employment here on Block Island. Like you, we support other business that are helping others and drive the local economy.
Our yarns are made of beautiful colors and soft and strong fibers. We go to great lengths to create the right color combinations. For example, we have introduced three rug color palettes that range from Beach Glass and Sunrise/Sunset to Natural. While each one represents Block Island, they are unique to different parts of the island or different seasons. Our placemats, have a different combination of colors that reflect the beauty and simplicity of the island.
